CT University organizes webinar to discuss cyber security challenges in covid-19
Dr. Baskar shared information about the new cyber threats
Ludhiana: CT University (CTU), under the Cybertrix Club organized "Edit-a-thon" as part of the Syberthon 2020, an online event that was focused to address the cyber security challenges due to COVID-19 Lockdown.
The guest speakers were Dr. Kala Baskar, Former Director-in-Charge, Centre for Cyber Forensics and Information Security University of Madras; Dr Manavpreet Kaur, Community Relations Specialist at Wikimedia Foundation and Rajeeb Dutta, Google certified Software Professional who focused on recent cyber security threats and also suggested numerous precautionary measures. Thereafter the participants were given a time slot to submit online Wikipedia articles on cyber security that were reviewed by the experts.
Dr Harsh Sadawarti, Vice-Chancellor, CT University, digitally inaugurated the event and shared his views on the importance of extracurricular activities during the corona pandemic. He shared that the COVID-19 pandemic has posed the risk of increased cyber-attacks in organizations due to high dependency on personal and unsecured networks.
Dr. Baskar shared information about the new cyber threats and ransomware during COVID-19 lockdown and suggested various precautions to be taken during online work from home. Dr. Manavpreet told about the relevance of the Wikimedia program and the importance of this kind of program to reduce the psychological stress of the students who are staying home alone and Rajeeb Datta commented that the lockdown time could be used as the goodness of society.
Munish Kaushal, Deputy Director IT, CTU extended the vote of thanks to the speakers and participants of the online event and closed the session with an advice to "Stay Strong, Stay Positive, Stay Healthy, Stay Home and be Safe”.
