Jalandhar, January 27, 2015: CT Institute of Architecture and Planning organised a study tour for their first semester Architecture Department students to enrich them with varying styles of Architecture. The students visited and studied historic forts and monuments of Kapurthala, Nakodar, Anandpur Sahib, Hoshiarpur and Phillaur. Post tour, the students made a study tour panel abstracting the monuments.

In the tour, students visited places of Architectural importance like Bajwara Fort, Sainik School, Moorish Mosque, Shalimar Bagh, Jahangir Dakhni Sarai, Tombs of Mohd. Momin and HaziJamal, Mughal Bridge Dakhni, Phillaur Fort, Viraasate Khalsa CEPT, IIM, Institute of Indology, Corbusien Buildings, Jami Masjid, Sun Temple Modhera, Stepped wells at Adalaj and Patan. They also visited Udyapur and Jain Temples at Mount Abu.

Explaining, Shruti H. Kapur (Head Department of Architecture at CTIAP) said the study tour was of great importance for the emerging architects. She said, “Through the study tour students could understand traditional construction techniques, principles of urban planning and modern architecture etc. The study tours have enriched the students with varying styles of Architecture.”

Dr. Manoj Kumar (Group Director, CT Institutions) said, “As part of academic program, study tours are organised to various sites of historical and architectural importance. Students have sketched and prepared measure drawings of any chosen monument or building as part of the study tour. Exhibition and presentation of tour activities are organised at the college.”

Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) appreciated the efforts of students for enthusiastically participating in the activities organized by their teachers to provide them wider area of exposure to their field.
