CU Punjab Hosts One-Day Scientific Instruments and Facility Visit for Guru Kashi University B.Pharma Students
Bathinda, November 21, 2024: The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Natural Products (DPSNP) at the Central University of Punjab (CU Punjab), under the leadership of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Professor Raghavendra P. Tiwari, organized a one-day Scientific Instruments and Facility Visit for final-year B. Pharma students from Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo. The visit, conducted on Tuesday, was part of the SSR activity under the ANRF Project titled “Design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of novel pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine derivatives as thymidylate synthase inhibitors (CRG/2023/001580)”, led by Principal Investigator Dr. Pradeep Kumar and Co-Principal Investigator Dr. Uma Shanker.
Dr. Pradeep Kumar welcomed the students and accompanying faculty, introducing them to DPSNP’s notable achievements. Ranked 23rd in the NIRF India Rankings 2024, the department has an excellent placement record, robust extramural funding from agencies like ICMR and ANRF, and global acclaim, with all regular faculty members listed in the Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists List 2024.
Prof. Suresh Thareja, Head of the Department, highlighted the expertise and accomplishments of individual faculty members, encouraging students to aspire to excellence in their pharmaceutical careers. Dr. Vikas Jaitak discussed the transformative role of NEP-2020 in the field, while Dr. Vikram Deep Monga highlighted the importance of research. Dr. Uma Shanker provided an overview of the ongoing ANRF project, and other faculty members, including Mr. Adarsh Kumar, Dr. Supandeep Singh Hallan, and Dr. Aditya Narayan Jhariya, emphasized the significance of quality in pharmaceuticals.
The students visited the Central Instrumentation Lab, department facilities, and the University Museum, gaining exposure to cutting-edge resources and research infrastructure. Faculty members from Guru Kashi University, including Amit Kumar, Pargat Singh, and Harmandeep Kaur, expressed their admiration for CU Punjab’s advanced facilities and academic environment.
The visit concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Pradeep Kumar, leaving the participants inspired by CU Punjab's commitment to advancing pharmaceutical education and research excellence.
