CUPB organized National Webinar on “Revival Strategies for Tourism Industry amidst the Pandemic”
Bathinda, September 30, 2021: The Department of Financial Administration, School of Management at Central University of Punjab, under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, organized a National Webinar on “Revival Strategies for Tourism Industry Amidst the Pandemic”. The keynote speaker of this webinar was Prof. Sandeep Kulshreshtha, Former Director, IITM & Chairman, All India Board of Tourism and Hospitality Management- AICTE.
Prof. Sandeep Kulshreshtha is the Senior Vice President, Commerce and Management Association of India, and member of the Editorial Board in International Journals and associated with leading Indian Universities running tourism programmes.
The keynote speaker, Prof. Sandeep Kulshreshtha, stated that every country has its unique tourist attraction and socio-cultural aspects, considering which efforts should be made to promote sustainable and responsible tourism, gender sensitization, etc. He stated that Medium and Small-Scale Industry occupies more than 75% of the tourism industry and highlighted the importance of the craftsman’s role in adding attraction to tourism industry. He discussed the impact of COVID-19 on tourism sector and shared six strategies for revival of Tourism Industry i.e. Solidarity, Smart Host, Social Media/ Digital Technology, Safe and Seamless travel, Secondary Destination and Smart Tourist. Prof. Kulshreshtha emphasized on the necessity to stay positive during this pandemic and advised the students to focus on travel writing, blogging, travel photography, storytelling, re-skilling & up-skilling, cultural aspects and regional languages.
The programme commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Anand Thakur, Dean, School of Management. Dr. Dhanraj Sharma, Co-convener introduced the keynote speaker and highlighted its significance of the Webinar theme in the current situation. Prof. Monisha Dhiman, Director, IQAC delivered formal vote of thanks. Research scholars and students from different departments of the university actively participated in this programme.
