Curfew in Ludhiana: Exemption from 6 am to 9 am for purchasing essential commodities
Directions issued to maintain atleast 1 metre distance while going out during exemption
Ludhiana: To ensure that Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19) does not spread in the district, District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal, while exercising his powers under section 144 of CrPC have ordered curfew in district Ludhiana from today, i.e. March 23, 2020 till further orders. The District Magistrate has decided to give three hour relaxation to public (from 6 am to 9 am) for buying necessary items/essential commodities. A meeting in this regard was held at Bachat Bhawan, here today, in which the entire situation was discussed in detail.
While providing information, Mr Agrawal informed that citizens can go out for making purchases regarding items of daily use from 6 am to 9 am. He said that the shopkeepers having license from the competent authority, they would be allowed to open their shops. The medical and veterinary services would remain operational 24 hours and the medical stores falling within 100 metres from the hospitals would also be allowed to stay open. The other medical stores would be allowed to stay open from only 6 am to 9 am.
The petrol pumps, LPG gas agencies, postal services would remain operational, whereas juice and shops selling drinks would stay completely closed. He said that the PDS ration depots, vegetable shops and milk supply would be done only from 6 am to 9 am. If any person has to visit a bank for some important work after the deadline or wants to use his/her vehicle, they would have to take permission from two-member committee comprising ADC (General) and ADCP-1. This permission would be granted and applied only through WhatsApp. For bank officials, the entry time would be only 6 am to 9 am, whereas the exit timings would be 5 pm to 8 pm. For air travel, the person has to send his confirmed ticket to the committee and take permission.
Similarly, the security personnel deputed in factories, houses, commercial establishments, persons etc would be allowed to join their duty only from 6 am to 9 am and exit at 5 pm to 8 pm. These persons should be carrying their identity card and should be in their uniform. He said that if any person wants to avail any further facility, they need to take permission from the two-member committee through whatsapp.
Duty passes would be issued to the government officials working in emergency situations and they would be allowed to perform their duties. The journalists approved/accredited by the Information & Public Relations Department Punjab would be allowed to do media coverage.
Mr Agrawal has directed the officials they should ensure that the curfew is strictly enforced in the district and any person violating it should be dealt with strictly. Commissioner of Police Mr Rakesh Kumar Agrawal & other officials were also present in the meeting.

DECISION TAKEN BY PUNJAB GOVT AS COMPLETE CURFEW IN CHANDIGARH ON MARCH 24
Ludhiana: To ensure that Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19) does not spread in the district, District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal, while exercising his powers under section 144 of CrPC have ordered curfew in district Ludhiana from 2 pm onwards today, i.e. March 23, 2020 till further orders.
The District Magistrate had decided to give three hour relaxation to public (from 6 am to 9 am) for buying necessary items/essential commodities, but as Chandigarh Administration is observing complete curfew on March 24, 2020, so now the relaxations in curfew would be applicable only from MARCH 25, 2020 (WEDNESDAY) ONWARDS.
Mr Agrawal has informed that it was earlier decided to give these relaxations from March 24, 2020, but as complete curfew has been imposed in Chandigarh on March 24, 2020, it was been decided that the relaxations in curfew in district Ludhiana would be applicable only from March 25, 2020 onwards.
He clarified that on March 24, 2020, no person would be allowed to come out of their houses and complete curfew would be observed. He again clarified that the relaxations in curfew in district Ludhiana would be applicable only from March 25, 2020 onward only. He has requested the residents of district Ludhiana to follow the curfew strictly.
