Cycle Rally, blood donation and free dental health check-up camp organised by NSS Panjab University

Chandigarh, September 12, 2023: National Service Scheme (NSS) Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a cycle rally as per the call of Department of Youth Affairs, Government of India and subsequent direction of State NSS cell, UT Chandigarh organized under the leadership of Dr. Parveen Goyal, Programme coordinator, NSS,PU.
The rally with 250 volunteers was flagged off by chief guest, Prof. Renu Vig, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, PU. Official of University including Prof. Krishan Saluja, Prof. Rumina Sethi, DUI, Prof. Y. P. Verma, Registrar, Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, DCDC, Prof.Simrit Kahlon, DSW(W), Prof. Rajinder Kaur, CVO, Prof. Sushil Kansal, DIS, Senate and Syndicate members including Prof.Sonal Chawla, Prof. Latika, Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Prof. Dinesh Kumar, and faculty members including Dr.Pavitra, Dr.Gaurav Sapra, and Dr. Harinder Kaur, Regional Directorate and Dr. Nemi Chand , SLO, Chandigarh NSS Cell, Charter President Lion Tilak Raj, PMJF Zone Chairperson, Sh. Hitesh Kumar Goyal, PO's of NSS, PU and more than 100 NSS volunteers participated in the event.
The aim of event was to create awareness about use of cycle as a mode of transport with a view to improve physical fitness and to protect planet.
Prof. Renu Vig in her address emphasized the need to resort to cycling and walk to protect environment.
Prof. Rumina Sethi while addressing the gathering shared her happiness over the fact that NSS volunteers are contributing significantly at university as well as community level. The rally concluded at Gandhi Bhawan.
Thereafter, a blood donation and free dental health check camp was organized at Student Centre, PU, and Lion Gurcharan Singh Kalra, Sanjeev Sood, Baldev Narang, Rajinder Singh Kahlon, Jasbir Singh, Karanbir Singh Khaira, Sh. Davesh Moudgil, Senate Member and Former Mayor, Chandigarh, Prof.Simrit Kahlon, DSW(W), and Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Dr. Parveen Goyal, Programme coordinator, and POs, NSS,PU graced the occasion. Around 55 volunteers donated blood and 70 faculty, staff, and volunteers paid visit to avail free dental check up.
