'Daan Utsav-2024' concludes on a high note; donated material would now be distributed among needy persons through NGOs 

Daan Utsav-2024 concluded on a high note with the two-day distribution ceremony coming to an end at Indoor stadium, Pakhowal road on Tuesday.

Ludhiana, October 22, 2024: Daan Utsav-2024 concluded on a high note with the two-day distribution ceremony coming to an end at Indoor stadium, Pakhowal road on Tuesday. 

During the distribution ceremony, the donated items were distributed among the NGOs which have been working in different areas and these NGOs would now further distribute the material to needy persons.

100,000+ clothes, 5000 Toys, 3000 pairs of shoes, 2000 beddings, 1500 utensils, 3000 appliances, grocery, e-waste etc have been donated by the residents during 'Daan Utsav'.  

Dayanand Medical College and Hospital Bipin Gupta, Vice President of Nehru Sidhant Kendra Trust Sunil Gupta, Assistant Commissioner in MC Patiala Sunil Mehta, Actress Sonia Mann, AAP leader Adv Paramvir Singh Prince, Chairman of Punjab State Cooperative Development Bank Suresh Goyal, MC Patiala Superintendent (retd) Gurvinder Singh, social activist Gurpreet Singh Mintu, Secretary, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Rashmi Saini, Aagyapal Singh among others participated in the distribution ceremony on the second day. Students from over 20 educational institutes among other residents also participated in the ceremony. 

MC Assistant Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon and Director CityNeeds Maneet Dewan said that Daan Utsav 2024 was organised by Municipal Corporation (MC) Ludhiana in association with CityNeeds. Apart from Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Mohali, Chandigarh, Ropar and Patiala, the utsav was also observed in Panchkula (Haryana) and Delhi this year. Industrial associations and NGOs including Act Humane, Marshal Aid, FICO, UCPMA among others also actively supported the Daan Utsav. 
  
Sekhon and Dewan said that the Utsav was organised under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jitendra Jorwal and MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal. The utsav promotes the concept of RRR i.e. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle and Mission LiFE initiated by Government of India. 'Green Utsav' exhibition was also organised during the distribution ceremony to promote the concept of reduce, reuse and recycle (RRR). 

The collection drive under the Daan Utsav was held during the first week of October and dropping centres were established across different cities where residents could drop the old/new items for the needy persons.

Sekhon and Dewan further stated that the donated material would now be distributed among needy persons through different NGOS. Applauding the residents for their participation and for making donations during the Daan Utsav at large, Sekhon and Dewan said that they will make efforts to cover more cities under the Daan Utsav next year.
