DALAI LAMA little bit sad on Pope’s resignation

Dharmasala, February 28, 2013: Commenting on the Pope’s resignation, Tibetans spiritual leader the 14th Dalai Lama has said today that he is little bit sad with this, but his decision is personal.

Dalai Lama prayed for Pope’s remaining life to be very useful and successful for all,  be realistic and for the greater benefit of the concerned people.

Dalai Lama was answering to the queries of media at Shapur about 35km from  Dharamshala on Thursday, where he attended the first annual convocation of Central University of Himachal Pradesh as chief guest.

About Pope, Dalai Lama said, “Firstly little but sad. I know him, he is intelligent one. But then naturally he religious practitioner and meantime very intelligent so his decision must be I think realistic some sort of greater benefit to concerned people so I pray his remaining life still will be very useful and successful for all.”

Dalai Lama was conferred with the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy by Dr. Arun Maira, Chancellor(Member of Planning Commission of India) of the Central University of Himachal.

At this point Dalai Lama said that education is must to strengthen the mental knowledge. He said, “Educational institutes should not ignore the ancient values during the modernisation of education.” He said that the present education system, though succeed in fulfilling the physical needs, but is unable to provide most needed mental peace.

As many as 115 students were awarded degrees by Dalai Lama in the first convocation of the university today.
