Dalai Lama returns to Dharamshala after Bodhgaya Sojourn
The 14th Dalai Lama has safely returned to Dharamshala following a month-long sojourn in Bodhgaya. The spiritual leader was warmly received at Gaggal Airport by Sikyong Penpa Tsering, Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang, Dharamshala Tibetan Settlement Officer Kunchok Migmar, and representatives from various Tibetan NGOs in Dharamshala.
Dharamshala, January 22, 2024: The 14th Dalai Lama has safely returned to Dharamshala following a month-long sojourn in Bodhgaya. The spiritual leader was warmly received at Gaggal Airport by Sikyong Penpa Tsering, Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang, Dharamshala Tibetan Settlement Officer Kunchok Migmar, and representatives from various Tibetan NGOs in Dharamshala.
Local Tibetans and residents gathered along the route from the airport to Dalai Lama' residence, expressing their joy and reverence for the Tibetan spiritual leader.
During his stay in Bodhgaya, His Holiness conferred a series of teachings, empowerments, and initiations to diverse communities, including Tibetans, locals, and foreigners. Before that, he provided teachings on the "Thirty-seven Practices of Bodhisattvas" in Gangtok, Sikkim, upon the request of the Sikkim government. He also delivered a general teaching at the Sed-Gyued Monastery in West Bengal.
88-year-old Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama’s journey to Sikkim and Bodhgaya began on December 9, 2023, from Dharamshala.
