DANONE TO INVEST IN PUNJAB: MD of MNC DANONE calls on CM

Chandigarh, December 13, 2012: Managing Director Nutricia - a French based company of food group Danone Laurent Marcel called on Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here at latter’s residence late last evening and reveled the future prospects of their multinational group to re-launch its acquired brand Protinex with value additions and new packaging.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office informed that appreciating the investor friendly atmosphere in the state, Marcel informed that currently Danone was operating globally with a turnover of 19 billion euros in baby nutrition, medical nutrition, fresh dairy products and beverages business. Nutricia International had already taken over the Wockhardt’s nutrition business along with its manufacturing unit at Lalru in Punjab which would further give fillip to the company’s business in the region.   After acquiring Wockhardt’s nutritional brands, Danone had formally entered India’s baby food and medical nutrition market with Dexolac, Farex, Nusobee and Protinex brands, added Marcel.

He further informed that the company was currently conducting consumer research programs before introducing its global brands in India through its Punjab’s Unit and to understand the specific needs of Indian consumers, the company is also talking to doctors and opinion leaders before finalising its global launches.
