DAVIET organized an Electoral Democracy program on “Role of Youth for Healthy Democracy” in collaboration with NGO Disha Deep and District Red Cross Society.
Jalandhar, April 17, 2023: DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology, jalandhar in collaboration with multidimensional NGO Disha Deep and District Red Cross Society, Jalandhar organized an electoral literacy program “Role of Youth for Healthy Democracy” under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation Program (SVEEP) today.
Dr. Sanjeev Naval, Principal, DAVIET give a speech on role of youth for healthy democracy- the topic of national importance. He highlighted election as one of the most important pillars of democracy through which the best political candidate can be elected as our representative. He focused on use of voting right as a national duty.
S.M. Singh, founder and chief of Disha Deep apprised the students of their voting rights. He stated that it has been a continuous endeavour of the NGO to serve the society. He educated the youth to cast their votes for healthy democracy. He urged upon the students not to cast vote for monetary considerations or any other ravenousness.
Dr. Surjeet Lal Sahota, Nodal officer, Jalandhar Constituency (SWEEP), addressed the students on the occasion to make them aware towards their voting rights. He enlightened the students about Form No. 6, Form No. 6B, Form No. 7 and Form No.8. Further, he motivated the youth to do smart work along with hard work to touch the peak of success in every field of life.
The youth took pledge that they will not only cast their votes prudently but will guide others in the same direction for healthy democracy.
The students of DAVIET presented a play on importance of vote. A quiz was also organized for the students on role of voting in democracy.
Dr. Sanjeev Naval, Principal, DAVIET along with Captain Jaswinder Singh, Chairman Disha Deep and Sh. Tarsem Jalandhari, Vice Chairman, Disha Deep gave away the prizes to the students. The Sanitizers and masks were distributed as prizes on the behalf of Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar. Dr. Sanjeev Naval thanked worthy Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar, S. Jaspreet Singh, for providing the opportunity towards sanitizing and motivating the youth in participation of election process. Captain Jaswinder Singh and Sh. Tarsem Jalandhari presented the vote of thanks.
As many as 600 students got benefitted of this program of national importance. The program ended with national anthem.
