Hero Cycles was established in 1956 in Ludhiana Punjab and started with manufacturing bicycle components. Today, Hero Cycles is the one of the world’s largest manufacturer of Bicycles and producing 19,000 cycles per day. Hero Cycles is part of Hero Motors Company. At present, Hero cycles exports to over 70 countries including Germany, Poland, Africa, Finland, UK and Europe etc. The company is ISO9001 & ISO14001 Certified from BVC of UK and recognized by the R&D department by the Govt. of India.
The company has over 250 suppliers network, approx. 2800 dealerships & over 7610 employees. Hero Cycles has also entered into Mid Premium, Premium & Super Premium segment under the brand names Hero Sprint, Hero Sprint Pro & UT. As part of its strategy to further cement its position in the fast-growing premium cycling segment in India, Hero Cycles acquired Firefox Bikes, India’s largest premium bicycle brand. Firefox Bikes has established presence pan-India through a network of 160 outlets and has been growing at a 3-year CAGR of 35% in revenue.
Hero Cycles Ltd, also has acquired majority stake in Avocet Sports Limited, to mark its entry into the high-value cycle market in Europe as part of its aggressive growth plans in Europe. Avocet is one of the top three distributors of bicycles, e-bikes, bicycle parts and accessories in the UK.
The ecstatic students while giving the details of the offer shared that his designation in the company will be Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) and their responsibility will be to work in Production, Design & Development, Quality Assurance and Tool Room department. The selected students Nikhil Sharma and Vishal Sharma had shared that they had started preparing for the placement drive early and concentrated on developing their interpersonal skills along with the enhancing their knowledge about the core areas. They shared that to suit the needs of the company a special effort was done to learn Autocad, Catia and Ansys.
Mr. Sushil Prashar (Head, Department of Training and Placement) appreciated the hard work put in by students and highlighted that special efforts were done to make them ready for Written Test, Group discussion and Interviews. He shared that special guest lectures and workshops were organized from time to time to make the students sharpen their skills to face Technical and HR Persons confidently. He also thanked the Principal for his constant support and guidance. He provided the split of the selected students and stated that students were selected from the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal DAVIET congratulated the students on their success. He wished them the best of luck for all their future endeavors’. He highlighted that DAVIETians have always been passionate about placements and special efforts are done to make them industry ready. He stated that the success of selected students stands for the hard work and commitment of DAV administration to provide its students the best possible exposure so that they can make a mark for themselves. He also congratulated the Placement team and faculty who guided the students and urged them to keep up the good work.
