Day 3 - 15th Monsoon Regatta: Govardhan continues his winning spree

Once again at the 15th Monsoon Regatta the Telangana Sailors dominated the under 16 Optimist fleet with Govardhan Pallara, Lahiri Komaravelly and sister Deekshita Komaravelly all from Udbhav School winning one race each.

Govardhan continues his winning spree and is well ahead of the second position but with 4 races to go he needs to maintain his composure and stay in top position.

Lahiri was the heroine of the day. She fractured her left arm in an accident having been run over by a vehicle and was out of practice for 2 months . She cajoled her doctor who finally allowed her to participate after she missed the first two races. Lahiri finished first in a race and despite setbacks is commendably positioned at 19th in a 39 sailor fleet.

The winds were light in the first two races but hit 15 knots in the last race giving Deekshita of Telangana a burst of energy and she finished the day with a win

In the ILCA4 Boys Krishna Divaker of TSC Mysore pipped Eklavya Batham  of NSS Madhya Pradesh to top the fleet at the end of day 3 with Shashank Batham following closely in second. Eklavya is down to third. This is the only fleet as closely contested and populated as the under 16 Optimist.

In the ILCA 4 Girls Somya Singh and Alia continue to rule top and second

In the 29er Skiff Class Nikhil Mandavkar and Satyam Jha of NBSC Goa opened up their lead further to the top spot leading Gadham Mallesh and Corolla Karthik behind by 5 points in the tally after 8 races

In the 420 Open Divyanshi Mishra and Anurag Sendhav of NSS Madhya Pradesh won two races and one second position. The pair seems to have consolidated their gold medals but there are 4 races to go.

In the International 420 Mixed locals Thanuja Kameshwar and Vaishnavi are tied at the top.

The Monsoon Regatta also sailed the Half Rig Fleet for lighter and younger sailors and Syyad Ashraf (11) of Thara Boys Home at Secunderabad . He has topped the fleet to win a gold medal and the Light Fleet Trophy . Yuvraj Gupta (9) of Nallagutta Govt School and Pardhu Telugu (11) of Udbhav School finished with a  silver and bronze respectively.
