DC and SSPs direct officers to ensure free, fair and peaceful panchayat elections
Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) (Ludhiana rural) Navneet Singh Bains and SSP Khanna Ashwini Gotyal directed the SDMs and senior police officers to ensure free, fair and peaceful polls during the panchayat elections.
Ludhiana, September 27, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) (Ludhiana rural) Navneet Singh Bains and SSP Khanna Ashwini Gotyal directed the SDMs and senior police officers to ensure free, fair and peaceful polls during the panchayat elections.
Presiding over a review meeting with the SPs and DSPs of Ludhiana Commissionerate, Ludhiana Rural police and Khanna police here, the DC and both SSPs stated that the administration and police will ensure elaborate security arrangements for these elections. They directed the officers minutely to look into all the arrangements involved in the election process to ensure that polls concluded in a free, fair and peaceful manner. They mentioned that any sort of laxity in performing the duty will be totally unwarranted.
The Deputy Commissioner and SSPs categorically asked the officers to ensure that no one takes the law in their hand during the elections. They added that anyone trying to disturb the peaceful conduct of this by-election should be dealt sternly as per the law. They also asked the officers to ensure that strict vigil is being kept on the anti-social elements through the patrolling parties of police deployed across the district.
Likewise, the DC and Senior Superintendents of Police also asked the civil and police officers to install special nakas/ check points under their jurisdiction for maintaining law and order. They stressed that the district Police must uphold the glorious tradition of conducting free and fair elections in a peaceful atmosphere across the district. They also stated that officers must ensure that every eligible able to cast the vote freely thereby strengthening the democracy as grass root level.
