DC conducts surprise inspection in Gill Road grain market
In order to ensure that farmers have quality facilities at the mandis , Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Tuesday conducted a surprise inspection at the Gill Road Dana mandi. She also issued show cause notice to the concern officials and sought explanation for the cleanliness not being upto the mark.
Ludhiana, April 16, 2024: In order to ensure that farmers have quality facilities at the mandis , Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Tuesday conducted a surprise inspection at the Gill Road Dana mandi. She also issued show cause notice to the concern officials and sought explanation for the cleanliness not being upto the mark.
Sawhney carried out surprise checking of the Gill Road grain market on Tuesday evening and took stock of the procurement operations.
The Deputy Commissioner made it clear to the officials that the arrangements must be completed before the arrival of the grain at the mandi. She said that such a surprise inspection would be conducted in the coming days also by forming special teams.
Sawhney also said that the officials must ensure adequate arrangements of clean drinking water, cleanliness, fans and sheds so that farmers and also the labour working at the mandi do not face any kind of inconvenience. She added that there was sufficient availability of gunny bags besides proper arrangements for lifting and payment were already made in all the purchase centers where farmers will get the payment of their produce within stipulated time-frame. She appealed to the farmers to bring only dry produce to the mandis for easy and hassle-free procurement.
SDM Deepak Bhatia, Assistant Commissioner (UT) Kritika Goyal and others were present on the occasion.
