DC describes blood donation as biggest service to humanity
Inaugurates blood donation camp in Red Cross Bhawan
Ludhiana: Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma today said that blood donation was the biggest service that an individual could render to society as it could help in saving many precious lives.
Interacting with the youngsters after inaugurating a Blood Donation Camp organized at local Red Cross Bhawan by Rehras Sewa Society, the Deputy Commissioner said that the youth of the state had always excelled in every field and there was no reason that the youth of the state should lag in this field, which was a true service of humanity.
He exhorted the youngsters to come forward in large numbers to donate blood, which was all the more important for creating a healthy blood bank.
The Deputy Commissioner said that every youth must realize that every blood donor was a hero due to which they should such regularly donate blood after every three months. He also asked them to motivate their peers to become regular voluntary blood donors to ensure sufficient stocks of blood needed for routine and emergency treatment. Sharma pointed out that every drop of blood donated by a person could save a life.
On the occasion, around 25 youth from the city donated the blood during the camp.
Prominent among present on the occasion included Red Cross Secretary Balbir Chand Ayri, representatives from Rehras Sewa Society Sukhminder Singh Kairon, Hardeep Paul, Sacred Heart Convent School students Madhvi Sharma and Pratibha Sharma, Atam Devki Niketan Senior Secondary School students Harshit Kalotra and others were present.
