Ludhiana, June 24, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney issued instructions on Monday to officials of the drainage department to study the old pattern of Budha Dariya in its records and give a report in next 15-days to identify and fix the boundaries.
She also directed the officials from the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation to immediately begin a campaign to clear encroachments along the Budha Dariya before the onset of the monsoon season.
During a meeting with officials from the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana and the Drainage Department, Sawhney, accompanied by ADCs Anmol Singh Dhaliwal and Rupinder Pal Singh, as well as MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, emphasized the urgent need of studying 100-years old pattern of Budha Dariya so that its jurisdictional boundaries can be decided and fixed. She asked them to submit the report to her after the fortnight.
Further, she asked officials to clear encroachments on the banks of Budha Dariya in view of the upcoming rainy season. She stated that the illegal structures must be cleared after proper demarcation and other necessary processes to prevent any untoward incidents in the event of flooding.
Sawhney mentioned the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government's commitment to the comprehensive development of the city and the well-being of its residents, ensuring that all necessary measures are taken. She also reviewed the progress of the cleaning and desilting efforts and urged officials to complete all tasks well before the deadline.
SDMs Vikas Hira, Deepak Bhatia, DRO Gurjinder Pal Singh and others were also present in the meeting.
