Ludhiana, April 21, 2022: In the wake of the advisory by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) regarding Heat wave, Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik have directed the officers of the district administration to prepare ‘Heat Wave Action Plan’ for the district.
She has also directed her staff to serve lemon water to every person coming to DC office for work. “As we know that there has been a rise in temperature and lemon water is the best remedy to beat the heat,” she said.

She said that for this a multi-sectoral and multi-dimensional administrative approach involving activities like provision for clean drinking water in the district, temporary shelter and sheds, rescheduling of working hours for outdoor labour and use of parks, providing better emergency medical services, public health, re-schedule load shedding of power to avoid peak heat hour and others must be adopted.
She said that early planning for the potential heat wave in the coming months could help to take appropriate measures to combat adverse impacts of wave.
The Deputy Commissioner said that in order to enable the district to prepare itself for effective management of heat wave conditions, this plan must be submitted at the earliest so that necessary steps could be taken accordingly.
The DC said that while preparing the plan focus should be laid on creating awareness amongst the people regarding the Heat Wave Precautionary measures.
Likewise, she said that thrust should also be laid to prevent sunstroke deaths as per the action plan.
