Ludhiana, July 16, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney directed the Public Works Department (PWD) officials to speed up the construction of the Ludhiana-Rahon road during a coordination meeting with various departments.

The road is a major government project that will improve traffic management and connect Ludhiana with SBS Nagar (Nawanshahr) district. The up-gradation work of Ludhiana-Rahon road, which spans 11.43 km, began on December 30, 2013, with a budget of Rs. 43.25 crore. About 5.5 km of the road construction has been completed, but the remaining stretch is delayed due to issues with electricity poles etc.

The PWD officials assured the Deputy Commissioner that the work of shifting around 800 electricity poles will begin soon, as tenders are being floated this week.

Sawhney emphasized the Punjab government's commitment to quality road infrastructure and urged the officials to prioritize the timely completion of the project. The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is dedicated to ensuring the best road infrastructure in Ludhiana.

The meeting was attended by ADCs Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, Rupinder Pal Singh, DFO Rajesh Gulati, and PWD Provincial Division (B&R) Branch Executive Engineer Ranjeet Singh Sandhu, among others.
