DC Ferozepur seeks express trains to improve connectivity with state capital

Ferozepur, September 27, 2019: Continuing to give impetus to the holistic development of the district, deputy commissioner Ferozepur Chader Gaind has demanded regular express trains from Ferozepur to Chandigarh and Chandigarh to Ferozepur. During a video conference with the GM Railways, Gaind called upon the top railway authority to start some express train to provide Ferozepur improvised connectivity with the state Capital. Punjab Chief Secretary headed the conference and various Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) took part in the meeting. The deputy commissioner said that the train connectivity of Ferozepur to major cities especially with the state capital is not up to mark and people intend to travel to Chandigarh have to face a lot of problems. There are a large number of people who have to go to High Court, Punjab Civil Secretariat, PGI and Mohali airport and due to lack of proper express trains, they have to suffer a lot. Thus regular express trains from both sides may help them reaching Chandigarh. Gaind further suggested that a train at 5 am should be started from Ferozepur and return train at 6 pm to be started from Chandigarh railway station. It will cater to the mass population of Malwa region. Gaind appreciated the response of the railway authorities and hoped early starting of an express train to Chandigarh.
