DC goes all out to ensure smooth counting of votes in SBS Nagar  

Nawanshahr, March 8, 2022: With the district administration has finalized the arrangements for the counting of the votes on March 10, the stage is all set for the smooth completion of the counting process in three of assembly segments of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.
 
Conducting the inspection of counting centers in Banga, Nawanshahr and Balachaur,
District Election Officer-cum-
Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Jasbir Singh,
said that elaborate arrangements have been made for ensuring free, fair and transparent counting of votes for assembly elections.
 
Sarangal added that in Nawanshahr, the counting of votes would be held in 16 rounds and it would be finished in 15 rounds each at Banga and Balachaur respectively.
 
He said that adequate security personnel have been deployed  to ensure maintenance of law and order situation inside and outside the counting centers and no stone would be left unturned for ensuring that the entire process gets completed peacefully.
 
He said that votes of five Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines from each assembly segment would be counted separately after the counting of votes from Electronic Voting Machines.
 
Sarangal said that the EVM and VVPAT machines are constantly under CCTV surveillance and three tier security has been provided by the state Police, Punjab Armed Police and Para Military Force.
 
He said that the counting of votes would take place simultaneously at 8 am on March 10 in all the counting centers. 
 
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner also took stock of media rooms established in the precincts of the counting centers and said that no one would be allowed to carry mobiles inside the counting centers. 
 
He told that no victory procession has been allowed following the announcement of the results. 
 
The entire counting process would be closely monitored by three election observers.
 
On the occasion, SDMs Navneet Kaur Bal, Deepak Rohilla, Dr Baljinder Kaur Dhillon, Assistant Commissioner (G) Deepankar  Bhatia, DWO Ashish Kathuria, Deputy CEO Zila Parishad Dharam Pal, Tehsildars Lakshya Gupta, Kulwant Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Nayab Tehsildars Gurpreet Singh, Ravinder Singh and others were present.
