DC holds meeting regarding District Mobility Plan to ensure safety of residents on roads & smooth movement of traffic
With an aim to ensure safe movement of traffic on roads and seamless connectivity, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney conducted a meeting regarding the district mobility plan on Friday.
Ludhiana, April 12, 2024: With an aim to ensure safe movement of traffic on roads and seamless connectivity, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sakshi Sawhney conducted a meeting regarding the district mobility plan on Friday.
Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Sandeep Rishi, ADC (Urban Development) Rupinder Pal Singh, Assistant Commissioner (UT) Kritika Goyal, Member Punjab Road Safety Council Rahul Verma among other officials of MC, Traffic Police, Regional Transport Authority (RTA), National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), Transport department etc participated in the meeting.
To ensure the safety of school students, Secretary, RTA and District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) have been directed to regularly conduct surprise inspections for checking the vehicles carrying students to schools and action should be taken as per the norms, if any violations are found.
Discussions were held on different projects/issues including streamlining the movement of auto rickshaws, removal of encroachments, installation of traffic lights, streamlining inter state mobility etc.
DC Sawhney further said that safety of the students is also a top most priority for the administration and the concerned officials have been directed to conduct regular checks for inspecting the vehicles carrying students. Regular meetings would be held in this regard and combined efforts would be made by different departments for smooth movement of traffic.
