Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Jitendra Jorwal conducted a special meeting with representatives from all recognized political parties to discuss the rationalization of polling stations of the district in accordance with the Election Commission of India's instructions.

Ludhiana, September 20, 2024: Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Jitendra Jorwal conducted a special meeting with representatives from all recognized political parties to discuss the rationalization of polling stations of the district in accordance with the Election Commission of India's instructions. 

Jorwal informed the participants about the instructions received from the ECI regarding the rationalization of polling stations. He mentioned that before rationalization, there were 2921 polling stations in Ludhiana, and now after the completion of the exercise and merging process, the polling stations have increased to 2927. The names of some polling stations have also been upgraded. He explained that as per the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) instructions, booths from polling stations with less than 1,500 votes were merged with other polling stations in the 14 assembly constituencies of Ludhiana district.

The Deputy Commissioner also mentioned that the special summary revision of the photo electoral rolls, as directed by the Election Commission of India, is being carried out using January 1, 2025, as the qualifying date. Individuals who will turn 18 on January 1, 2025, can apply to have their names included in the electoral rolls.

The integrated draft electoral rolls will be published on October 29, 2024. Claims and objections can be submitted until November 28, 2024, and the same will be disposed of by December 24, 2024. The final version of the electoral rolls will be published on January 6, 2025.
