DC inaugurates blood donation camp to mark world blood donor day
Describes blood donation as real service of humanity
Ludhiana, June 14, 2022: To mark the world blood donor day, Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik on Tuesday inaugurated a blood donation camp held here at Red Cross Society, Ludhiana wherein as many as 40 units of blood were collected.
Presiding over the event, the DC described the Blood Donation as the real service of humanity as it could save millions of lives.
DC Surabhi Malik said that Blood donors were the real heroes as they play a key role in helping the people in need. She said that more and more people, especially the youngsters, should come forward to donate blood and become active partners in this noble cause.
The Deputy Commissioner said that this was the need of hour to strengthen the blood banks and make the country healthy especially amid unprecedented health crisis arising out of Covid-19 pandemic. She said that blood donation was the biggest service that an individual could render to the society as it could help in saving many precious lives.
She also said that every youth must realize that every blood donor was a hero and they should regularly donate blood after every three months to ensure sufficient stocks of blood needed for routine and emergency treatment.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner handed over appreciation certificates to donors who participated in the event.
On the occasion Secretary Red Cross Balbir Chand Ayri, BTO Red Cross Blood Bank Dr. Manvi Gupta, NGO members Simar Singh chandhok, Lakhvir Singh Maan, Satish Rana, Chanpreet Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Jagroop Singh, Sonu Bhardwaj, Yagya Sharma, Rajinder Kumar, and others were present.
