DC inaugurates covid control room for rural population

Ludhiana: To immediately address the calls of the distress caused by a devastating second wave of Covid-19 pandemic in rural areas, the administration has set up a dedicated 24-hour Covid control room in the Government Girls' College, Bharat Nagar Chowk, here, and started an exclusive helpline 0161-2403111 for the villagers to assist them in any kind of issue related to Covid.
Inaugurating the control room and helpline, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that this control room would be working dedicatedly for the rural population and they can call on 0161-2403111 for any kind of assistance or query regarding Covid-19.
He said that this control room and helpline would be operated 24 hours a day, seven days a week. He said that a team of doctors, counselors, teachers, and trained youths have been deputed to run the war room to solve the issue promptly.
He told that this is an expansion of already functioning control room set up earlier and providing COVID-19-related information, including the availability of beds, oxygen support in hospitals, counseling, Fateh kits, ration assistance, and others, to cater to those who need guidance for last one year.
Sharma told that district administration is fully geared up to meet any situation arising due to Covid 19 pandemic and there is not a dearth of resources including sufficient availability of oxygen and other necessary drugs.
He said that the teams of the health department are visiting almost all villages to cover the maximum beneficiaries under its vaccination drive and called the people to accept the vaccine wholeheartedly without any doubt. Reiterating the people not to take fever, cough, cold, sore throat, body ache lightly and immediately get tested for Covid, he said that early treatment would help to tackle the pandemic effectively and save precious lives.
He said that the administration needs the active support of the public to conquer the deadly second wave of Covid-19. He also urged the people to exercise restraint and not get panic due to any reason besides strictly adhering to norms of social distancing, masking, and hand hygiene.
