DC inspects EVMs’ warehouse
EVMs to be kept at fourth floor of DAC after counting
Nawanshahr, March 3, 2022: Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Thursday inspected the warehouse of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at the fourth floor of the district administrative complex.
Accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Jasbir Singh, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal said that all the EVMs would be kept here immediately after the end of counting of votes on March 10.
Directing the officials to ensure round the clock functioning of CCTV cameras, Deputy Commissioner reviewed the arrangements being put in place for the safety and security of EVMs.
He added that a security cover of Punjab Police would be placed there round the clock.
Sarangal said that proper marking would be done to ensure that EVMs of three of the assembly segments can be kept separately.
Deputy Commissioner said that after the counting was over in the district on March 10, the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines would be brought from three of assembly segments and would be put here.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the EVMs are constantly under CCTV surveillance and three tier security was being provided to it by the state Police, Punjab Armed Police and Para Military Force at strong rooms.
