DC kick-starts signature campaign to ensure massive participation of voters in upcoming assembly polls

Nawanshahr, December 15, 2021: Aiming to ensure massive participation of the voters especially the youngsters and students in the ensuing 2022 Assembly polls, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Wednesday initiated a signature campaign for soliciting their fulsome support in the elections.
Kick-starting the campaign with his signatures in the district administrative complex, Deputy Commissioner said that this drive would help to sensitize the young voters to come forward for strengthening the democracy at the grass root level by participating in maximum number. He said that the students and youth can play a major role in further strengthening the democratic ethos in the country.
He said that this signature campaign would be actively started in Banga and Balachaur sub-divisions of the district and asked the officials to ensure young voters participate in large number.
The Deputy Commissioner asserted that this program under Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation Program (SVEEP) would be instrumental in making the young voters about their democratic rights.
He said that the district administration would organize more such events in the coming days to ensure that the message of fair and free voting gets conveyed to every nook and corner of the district.
He said that the hard earned right of vote must not be wasted and youngsters must exercise it judiciously to strengthen democracy at the grass root level.
Sarangal said that as India is a youthful nation with a sizeable chunk of its population above the age of 18 years, it is need of the hour to ensure that every youth registers himself as voter and cast it sincerely so that a new and progressive India can be carved out.
He said that to facilitate, the youth the Election Commission of India has launched National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) and Voter Helpline App where they can apply for voter registration.
He said that the youth can visit www.nvsp.in for getting them registered as new voters.
 Sarangal said that the youth can also download Voter Helpline App from Google Play store in their android phone for enrolling them as voters.
Prominent among present on the occasion included Assistant SVEEP Nodal Officer Satnam Singh, Election Kanugo Palwinder Singh and Daljit Singh Dhillon, Kulbir Singh Negi and others.
