DC launches Swachhta hi Sewa campaign-2024
Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal initiated the Swachhta hi Sewa-2024 campaign to promote cleanliness in villages. The campaign aims to clean up garbage and waste, as well as raise awareness about the hazards of single-use plastic through Gram Sabhas.
Ludhiana, September 17, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal initiated the Swachhta hi Sewa-2024 campaign to promote cleanliness in villages. The campaign aims to clean up garbage and waste, as well as raise awareness about the hazards of single-use plastic through Gram Sabhas.
Over the next 15 days (till Oct 2), a comprehensive cleanliness and awareness drive will be conducted, overseen by the Department of Water Supply and Sanitation. This year's focus is on managing legacy waste in villages, with activities including garbage and pond cleaning, solid and liquid waste management, awareness rallies, cleanliness pledges, plantation, resolutions against single-use plastic and others.
The goal is to encourage active participation from the community in keeping their surroundings clean and green, with support from the administration, Department of Rural Development of Panchayats, and other stakeholders. The campaign aims to make Ludhiana villages clean, green, and pollution-free.
An oath was also administrated to all the officials/employees in this regard.
