DC Ludhiana calls upon youth to follow footsteps of martyrs

Ludhiana: Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Tuesday called upon the youth to take inspiration from the supreme sacrifice made by our great heroes to safeguard the unity and integrity of the country.

While presiding over a function organised by North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC) Patiala to pay homage to Shaheed Sukhdev Ji on the martyrdom day at his ancestral house in Mohalla Naughra today, the Deputy Commissioner said that Shaheed Sukhdev Ji along with Shaheed Bhagat Singh Ji and Shaheed Rajguru Ji laid down their lives for the sake of the country and the countrymen would ever remain indebted to them. 

He said that it was a matter of great pride for all of us that the martyrdom day of the great heroes was being observed in a befitting manner. He said that the youth and students must take inspiration from their lives and serve the country with zeal and commitment.

The Deputy Commissioner further said that these great sons of the soil had sacrificed their lives for emancipating the country from the shackles of foreign imperialism. 

He said that martyrs were not confined to any religion, community or region as they were the pride of whole nation and a fountain head of inspiration for the coming generations. 

Sharma pointed out that real tribute to our great martyrs was to follow the footsteps shown by them and contribute in the socio-economic growth of the state and the country. 

He also recalled that that our great freedom fighters made supreme sacrifice for the betterment of coming generations and to ensure holistic progress of the country and the state adding that all of us should make strenuous efforts to cherish he aspirations of our freedom fighters.

Calling that the day is also observed as Youth Empowerment Day, Deputy Commissioner said that India is a country with the highest population of youths in the world and they have a huge responsibility on their shoulders to make India a superpower on the earth.

He said that the society, administration, and nation will always be thankful to martyrs who served the country with patriotic fervour to defend its sovereignty.

Ravinder Sharma, programme officer, NZCC, Patiala said that Deepika Pokharana, Director, North zone cultural centre, Patiala has taken the initiative to organise this event and NZCC, Patiala,  Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India in collaboration with District Administration, Ludhiana is going make this event as an annual feature.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner also said that Punjab Government has deputed SDM Dr Baljinder Singh to acquire land for widening the road leading to ancestral house from Chaura Bazaar. 

Prominent among present occasion included MLA Surinder Dawar, Congress Ashwani sharma, senior deputy mayor Sham sunder malhotra, Councillor Anil Parthi, Ashok thapar, karan thapar, Sandeep thapar, Tribhuwan thapar, SDM Dr Baljinder Singh, besides several others.
