DC orders inspection of all skill development centres
Skill education enhances the employability of youth: NPS Randhawa
Nawanshahr, May 5, 2022: Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa on Thursday ordered the inspection of skill development centres operating in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district within a week and submit a report to his office.
Presiding over governing council meeting of District Bureau of Employment & Enterprises (DBEE), Deputy Commissioner said that five skill development centres are registered under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Yojna-National Urban Livelihood Mission and imparting skill education in fashion designing, front office executive, secretary and other to the youths. Similarly, three centres are being operated under under Deen Dayal Upadhaya Grameen Kaushal Yojna (DDU-GKY) scheme and providing training of electrician, food processing, welder, fitter, manicurist, and pedicurist, domestic IT, helpdesk attendant and etc. He told the officials to personally check the records of these centres including proper attendance of candidates, training classes and others to ensure transparent working and send a comprehensive report to his office.
Terming skill education as vital to enhance employability of youth, NPS Randhawa said that with fast paced changing technology, skilling is a must for everyone and Punjab Government will leave no stone unturned to impart skill education to youth for empowering them.
He said that skilled workforce can help to further accelerate the pace of growth of the state as this will not open job opportunities for them but can also boost self-employment. He also appealed the youth to avail maximum benefit of skill development courses in these centres as free of cost training is offered.
