Ludhiana, January 28, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal on Tuesday ordered the organization of medical and Unique Disability ID (UDID) camps in all four government-run child care institutions (CCIs) of the district.

During a meeting of the district-level committee, Jorwal, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rohit Gupta, instructed the Civil Surgeon to ensure that these camps are held on the first and third Wednesday of every month at the government-run child care institutions. He emphasized the importance of having specialists from different fields, including ENT, Medicine, Dermatology, Dentistry, and Psychology, present at these camps to conduct medical check-ups for the children residing there. The purpose of organizing two medical camps each month is to provide hassle-free medical facilities under one roof, ensuring the physical well-being of the children and preventing chronic illnesses.

Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner also asked that representatives from various departments be present during the UDID camps. He also mentioned to discuss with officials from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) the issuance of Aadhaar cards for the children in these institutions.

Jorwal directed the District Child Protection Officer, Rashmi Saini, to inspect the eight CCIs operating in Ludhiana and submit a report accordingly. This will help ensure that adequate facilities are provided for the children. Ludhiana has four government-run CCIs, which include the State after Care Home for Boys, Sehyog Halfway Home, and Government Children Home for Boys, and Observation Home, in addition to four private CCIs.

The Deputy Commissioner affirmed that the district administration is committed to the well-being of children and is making sincere efforts in this direction.
