DC orders officers to intensify field visits for smooth procurement operations at ground level
Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney ordered officers of the district administration, including Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), Food, Civil and Supplies controllers, and district managers of procurement agencies to intensify their field visits to monitor operations at the ground level.
Ludhiana, April 23, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney ordered officers of the district administration, including Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), Food, Civil and Supplies controllers, and district managers of procurement agencies to intensify their field visits to monitor operations at the ground level.
During a meeting at her office, the Deputy Commissioner accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioners Major Amit Sareen, Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, and Rupinder Pal Singh, instructed officers to visit the grain markets under their jurisdiction daily to stay up-to-date on the process. She also asked them to carefully observe the entire procurement and lifting operations to ensure that there was no excess of grains in the mandis.
The Deputy Commissioner also emphasized the need for a mechanism to be developed to ensure prompt lifting and timely payment to the farmers, so they do not face any inconvenience. She instructed the officers to ensure that maximum payments were made to benefit the farmers. She made it clear that any negligence on anyone's part would not be tolerated, and appropriate action would be taken.
Sawhney shared that so far, the district had witnessed the arrival of 217335.2- MT of wheat in Ludhiana's grain markets. She mentioned that 81.37% of wheat had already been purchased, and payments worth Rs 306.4 crore had been made to the farmers. She further added that the district administration was firmly committed to ensuring a smooth and hassle-free procurement of wheat.
All Sub-Divisional Magistrates also joined the meeting virtually.
