DC reiterates commitment for smooth, hassle-free paddy procurement

Ludhiana, October 16, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal reviewed the on-going procurement of paddy in the district on Wednesday.
While presiding over a meeting, the Deputy Commissioner Jorwal stated that the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to ensure smooth and hassle-free procurement of every single grain of paddy. He further mentioned that the district administration has made elaborate arrangements to ensure that the farmers' harvest is promptly lifted from the grain markets and they don't face any problems while selling their produce.
Jorwal asked all sub-divisional magistrates and chiefs of all procurement agencies to personally supervise the paddy procurement operations. He added that to date, a total of 125590.1 metric tonnes (MT) of paddy has arrived in the grain markets this procurement season, out of which 107891.3 MT has already been procured by various agencies including Pungrain, Markfed, Punsup, Punjab State Warehouse Corporation, and FCI. Payments worth Rs 218.7 crores have also been made to the farmers.
