DC reviews functioning of health dept, OOAT, de-addiction and rehab centres
Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Monday held a meeting with the top officials of the health department in the district administrative complex to review the healthcare scenario of the district. During the meeting, Sawhney checked the physical status of various infrastructure projects including the Mother and Child centre in civil hospital, Community Health Centres (CHCs) in Doraha and Raikot, Effluent Treatment Plant (ETPs), Repair of Pakhowal CHC, Food and Drug Administration Zonal Office, and others. She also discussed the progress of OOAT centres, de-addiction and rehab centres, and the Ayushman scheme.

During the meeting, Sawhney checked the physical status of various infrastructure projects including the Mother and Child centre in civil hospital, Community Health Centres (CHCs) in Doraha and Raikot, Effluent Treatment Plant (ETPs), Repair of Pakhowal CHC, Food and Drug Administration Zonal Office, and others. She also discussed the progress of OOAT centres, de-addiction and rehab centres, and the Ayushman scheme.
Sawhney suggested exploring the possibility of starting skill development courses for drug dependents. This initiative would help them to earn a livelihood by becoming self-reliant and employable, which would ultimately steer them away from drugs. She also asked the Civil Surgeon Jasbir Singh Aulakh to submit detailed issues of pending budgets related to the projects so that necessary interventions can be taken at a higher level to resolve the issues as soon as possible and further strengthen the healthcare system.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, was committed to improving government healthcare infrastructure to provide state-of-the-art medical services to people. She assured that strenuous efforts would be made to equip government hospitals with modern facilities.
