Ludhiana, April 4, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney chaired a meeting on Thursday of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) to review the efforts being made to drug free Ludhiana.
During the meeting, Sawhney presided over a discussion with heads of various departments, and principals of colleges/schools. She asked the education department to create awareness about the harmful effects of drugs in their institutions to make the district a drug-free zone. She emphasized the need for stage plays, dramas, skits, or other activities to sensitize young minds about drugs in hot spot areas. She ordered the health department to organize medical camps in different parts of Ludhiana and disseminate information regarding the harmful effects of drugs, OOAT, and rehab centers. She suggested that this drive against drugs must be converted to mass mobilization which can be instrumental in drug-free district.
She said that every initiative would be taken to safeguard the interests of the youth and leave the scourge of drugs.
The DC also told the SDMs to ensure that regular awareness drives are conducted in their jurisdictions where officers of civil and police administration educate people about the ill effects of drug abuse and motivate them to choose a healthy lifestyle.
