DC reviews status of development works, asks officers to submit UCs for completed works
During a review of on-going and completed development projects in the district, Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal today directed concerned officers to submit utilization certificates for all completed works.
Ludhiana, October 25, 2024: During a review of on-going and completed development projects in the district, Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal today directed concerned officers to submit utilization certificates for all completed works.
In a meeting held at Bachat Bhawan with Executive Officers, Block Development and Panchayat Officers (BDPOs), Panchayat Secretaries, and other officials, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of initiating work on various development works for which orders have already been issued. He emphasized that timely completion of these projects is essential to provide necessary facilities to the community.
Accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr. Harjinder Singh Bedi, Jorwal took stock of on-going construction works including libraries, kitchen gardens in rural schools, pond cleaning, and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) projects. He urged officers to prioritize the use of quality materials in construction and ensure timely project completion.
Furthermore, Jorwal reiterated the collective responsibility to combat stubble burning. He highlighted the importance of creating awareness among the public to protect the environment.
Since Panchayats Secretaries have strong relationships with local farmers, Deputy Commissioner also encouraged them to engage with farmers about the harmful effects of stubble burning. He also called on officials to educate farmers on the benefits of sustainable stubble disposal techniques that enhance soil health using appropriate farm equipment. .
Jorwal reaffirmed the Punjab Government’s commitment, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, to support farmers in adopting environmentally friendly farming practices.
