Ludhiana, October 29, 2024: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jitendra Jorwal directed officials to complete all pending civil works on the upcoming international airport at Halwara within the next 10 days. 

During a meeting with officials from the Indian Air Force, Public Works Department (PWD), Public Health, Airports Authority of India (AAI), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), drainage, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need to accelerate pending construction related to the runway, taxiway, and other critical areas. He also mentioned discussions on shifting security cameras in coordination with relevant officials as soon as possible and instructed them to address all missing links without any delay. 

Jorwal noted that several works, including the construction of internal roads, public health services, campus lighting, terminal buildings, substations, sewage treatment plants (STP), horticulture, toilet blocks, and parking, have already been completed.

He urged department heads to prioritize the completion of the remaining tasks. He also announced to take stock of all works physically in the next week at the site with all officials of concerned departments. 

Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner also expressed optimism that the airport would serve as an economic catalyst, boosting industrial growth, exports, employment, real estate, and more.
