DC reviews ongoing paddy procurement
Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal on Thursday stated that the Punjab government led by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed for ensuring smooth and hassle free procurement of the paddy to facilitate the farmers.
Ludhiana, October 17, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal on Thursday stated that the Punjab government led by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed for ensuring smooth and hassle free procurement of the paddy to facilitate the farmers.
The Deputy Commissioner, who reviewed the on-going procurement of paddy in the district here today, added that the state government will lift every single grain of paddy in a smooth and hassle free manner. He stated that the district administration has made elaborate arrangements to ensure that the harvest of farmers is lifted from the grain markets promptly.
Jorwal mentioned that all the Sub Divisional Magistrates and chiefs of the all procurement agencies have been asked to personally supervise the paddy procurement operations. He stated that the district administration has witnessed arrival of 150633.1 MT paddy and procured 127448.9 MT paddy from grain markets in this procurement season. The payments worth Rs 289.9 crore have also been made to the farmers, he added.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that elaborate arrangements are made for the prompt lifting of the food grains from the grain markets. He also appealed the farmers to restrain from burning paddy straw, which causes a major environmental hazard.
