Ludhiana, January 29, 2022: Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma today warned of strict action against people who have willfully missed the second dose of Covid19 vaccine.

In a video message issued today, he said that in a meeting with Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Civil Surgeon Dr SP Singh it was discussed that some persons are time and again not paying any heed towards our constant appeals for vaccination.

He said that on one hand where 102% of the eligible beneficiaries have received first dose, only 64% persons have received second dose, which means 36% (around 10 lakh persons) are yet to become fully vaccinated.

The DC urged the residents to get vaccinated at the earliest, else their would not only pose threat for themselves, but also for their families. He said that out of 81 covid deaths that took place in January this year, 80% of victims were either unvaccinated or had missed their second dose.

The DC further said that as per government directions on Covid, only fully vaccinated people can go out of their homes and if such unvaccinated persons are found roaming in markets, marriage palaces, malls, hotels, gyms, restaurants or anywhere else, police is starting strict checking and any person found to have wilfully missed their second dose, strict action will be taken against them. He said police would not allow all such persons to come out of their homes in the interest of society.

Varinder Kumar Sharma said that for government officials, directions are already clear that only fully vaccinated employees would get salary. He said that he would also speak to industrialists to not issue salary to unvaccinated staff because if we want to have a Covid free society, all persons must be fully vaccinated.

He informed that a mega vaccination drive is being organised tomorrow (January 30, 2022) and urged all eligible persons to come out in large numbers and get their second dose of vaccine.
