Ludhiana, April 21, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain has issued a stern warning to officers about strict action in case of any undue delays in lifting wheat from the grain markets. He emphasized that any inconvenience caused to farmers in the mandis would not be tolerated.

While reviewing the on-going wheat procurement operations, Jain expressed satisfaction with the procurement progress thus far. He noted that the state government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to lifting every single grain of wheat from the markets. He urged all officers to ensure seamless, hassle-free operations in the markets.

The Deputy Commissioner reported that as of April 20, approximately 266350-MT of wheat had arrived in the market, of which 223540-MT had already been purchased. He also mentioned that payments totalling Rs 397.30 crores have already been made to farmers for the procured grains. Jain reiterated that officials must spend the majority of their time in the field to expedite the lifting operations.

Furthermore, he instructed the officials to submit timely reports regarding procurement and lifting operations in their respective areas. Jain stated that he is personally monitoring the entire procurement process and warned that any delay or laxity in report submission would be dealt with severely.
