The 69th birth anniversary of the slain Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi being celebrated as Sadbhavna Diwas (Harmony Day) at Ludhiana on Tuesday by District Congress Committee, Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, August 20, 2013: The 69th birth anniversary of the slain Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was celebrated as Sadbhavna Diwas (Harmony Day) here today by District Congress Committee, Ludhiana.
Addressing the party workers at Congress Bhawan, the Ludhiana DCC (U) president Pawan Dewan asked the party men to follow the footsteps Rajiv Gandhi. Pawan He said the younger generation would have to come forward for fulfilling dreams of Rajiv Gandhi who laid down his life for unity and integrity of the nation.
He recalled foresightedness of Rajiv Gandhi and said the slain leader bought forward the youths and brought them the right to vote at the age of 18. That led the youths to participate in politics of the country, he said, adding the use of latest gadgets like computers, laptops and mobile that had become important part of everyone’s routine life had been possible because of Rajiv Gandhi.
He said the Congress had always given preference to the interests of the nation. He recalled the words of Rajiv Gandhi, in which he had stated that nobody should be allowed to weaken the nation.
Among others former DCC president KK Bawa also spoke.
Senior deputy leader MCL Rakesh Prashar, Parminder Mehta, Sham Sunder Malhotra, Rakesh Sharma, Palwinder Taggar, Jarnail Shimlapuri, Manpreet Grewal, Gurmukh Singh Mithu, Sanjay Sharma, Kanwardeep Puppi and others were among those present on the occasion.
