DCs to be held accountable for any sort of inconvenience to people in government offices: says CM
Punjab chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday, said that the Deputy commissioners will be directly held accountable for any sort of inconvenience and harassment of the general public, in the government offices, of their respective districts.

Chandigarh, June 17, 2024: Punjab chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday, said that the Deputy commissioners will be directly held accountable for any sort of inconvenience and harassment of the general public, in the government offices, of their respective districts.
In a meeting here with Deputy Commissioners from across the state, the Chief Minister said that the state government is duty bound to provide transparent, responsive and effective administration to the general public. He said that in this process, the Deputy Commissioners will act as a pivotal to ensure that people get hasslefree delivery of the citizen centric services in the government offices. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is the bounden duty of the Deputy commissioners to ensure that the people in their respective districts do not face any sort of inconvenience while visiting the government offices.
The chief minister categorically said that any laxity in this noble task will not be tolerated adding that the Deputy Commissioners will be held accountable for any such lapse. He said that the state government is coming up with the noble idea of setting up Chief Minister’s window in every district of the state, so that people could avail the benefits of government services through them. Bhagwan Singh Mann said that a dedicated officer will be sitting at this window and receiving the applications from the general public for getting their routine administrative works done.
The Chief Minister said that the applications pertaining to the administrative works within the district will be sent to the concerned department, for immediate execution of the work, adding that the works related to the state government will be sent to his office from where it will be further sent to the administrative departments for their early resolution. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Chief Minister’s dashboard will be continuously monitoring the entire activity, across the districts along with taking feedback from the general public regarding their applications and pending works.
The Chief Minister said that it will ensure the execution of routine works of the general public in a time bound and prompt manner. He said that the officers will be, regularly monitoring this dashboard to ensure that people do not phase any sort of inconvenience while getting their routine administrative works done. Bhagwant Singh Mann unequivocally said that this is government of every Punjabi, who had given a thumping mandate to him so that they should not be facing any sort of, inconvenience, adding that his government will ensure that all the works of the general public are done at the earliest without any delay.
The chief minister said that the state government will be roping in the latest technique of artificial intelligence to check that the government officers sit in their offices and deliver services to the people. Likewise, he said that the involvement of MLAs and other public representatives will also be further enhanced in the functioning of the state government so that they can get the works of people executed by coordinating with the administration and the offices of the state government. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that a cluster of villages will be formed so that the pending works of these villages are done at government offices on stipulated date thereby ensuring that people do not have to run pillar to Post for these works.
The chief minister said this will be a revolutionary step as the government will be coming at doors of the people through Sarkar Tuhade scheme and ensure that the works of general public are given prime importance. He said that special counters in the form of reception and enquiry centres will be set up in the offices at the district administration, so that people could know the place from where there work can be done easily. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this will save the time and energy of the people, besides ensuring that their work is done in a time bound manner.
The chief minister further said that his government has taken a revolutionary step of providing canal water to the farmers for irrigation purposes during the ongoing paddy season. He said that the main aim is to check the depleting groundwater level by ensuring that farmers utilise the canal water optimally during the season. Bhagwant Singh Maan said that this is the need of the hour to save the underground water for our coming generations.
The chief minister further said that he will be undertaking extensive tour to assess the flood preparations at grassroot level ahead of the rainy season ahead. He said that on Tuesday his tour will be in and around the flood prone areas of Ghaggar river, so that a random check can be made to assess the preparations at ground level. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that more such visits will be made in the coming days to ensure that people do not face any sort of, problem in the ensuing monsoon season.
The chief minister that leaking of NEET exam has ruined the career of lakhs of bright students who had burnt midnight oil to prepare for this exam. He said that it is shameful that the centre government had denied any leaking of the exam, but unfortunately, unfortunately, this malpractice has bruised the psyche of the students. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this is highly condemnable and such practises should be checked with a heavy hand so that it acts as a deterrent for others in the future.
The chief minister, further said that the state government has no dearth of power for any sector in the state. He said that Punjabis a power surplus state and no power cut is being imposed in any sector despite of the ongoing peak season. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this is due to the strenuous efforts, being made by the state government to ensure power supply to the every sector by introducing several reforms.
