Teachers distributed toffees towards the end of the day to add to the enthusiasm of the kids.

Taking a note of the lack of educational facilities in the area, Deepalaya decided to open one of its first formal schools right in the heart of the slums of Gole Kuan in the year 1999. However, the school has been converted to a learning center after the enforcement of the Right to Education Act. Deepalaya Learning Centre, Gole Kuan currently provides non-formal education for out of school children, as well as remedial education for children mainstreamed in government schools. Deepalaya NGO also runs a Vocational Training Centre and a community library (supported by Reliance Foundation) in the area.
