The programme began at 10.30 AM with a welcome note by Mr.Manoj Kumar, Principal, Deepalaya School Gusbethi. Hereafter, students from various classes of DSG and Deepalaya Children’s Home depicted the birth of Jesus Christ through a nativity play; the 30-minute-long skit was filled with spectacular acting, dance, Hindi songs, voice-overs, etc.
Mr. A. J. Philip, Secretary and Chief Executive, Deepalaya emphasized on the importance of giving back to the society in his speech. “The spirit of Christmas upholds the idea of giving and gifting. It is necessary that our students grow up with a vision of giving back to the society, and become contributing citizens,” said Mr. Philip.
Mr. Maniyan and Mr. Philip also handed over new blazers to the boys of the school, with an objective to protect them from the harsh winters. These blazers have been procured by Deepalaya through the generous support of its donors/patrons who collectively contributed to the cause. Notably, a few days back Deepalaya had also distributed winter uniform sets, blazers, and a pair of shoes to all the girl students studying in the school.
Befitting the occasion, songs like “Wish You A Merry Christmas” and “Jingle Bells” were played. Tiny tots of the school overjoyed the audience with their cute dance steps. One of the students dressed up as young Santa mingled with the rest of the children and distributed gifts. The function ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Shiju Mammen, Administrator, Deepalaya School Gusbethi.
