At present life cycle of advanced, new age defense technologies is very short and hence continuous innovations are the need of the hour, says Vice Chancellor Prof PB Sharma.
Amity University Haryana, Gurugram organized today, 11th October, 2022 a webinar on ‘Trends & opportunities in Defense’. Rudra B Jadeja, MD & CEO Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems Ltd addressed the participants on excellent opportunities in Defense sector and stressed on thinking big and fast implementation of new technologies. The webinar was attended by large number of scholars, faculty members, engineers and final year engineering students from the Amity University.
Highlighting the importance of technology innovation for the defense sector, Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) P B Sharma said, “India has highly impressive defense R&D infrastructure and a highly rich pool of talented scientists and technologists working in DRDO labs and in its centers of excellence in India. With new strategies, policies and the programs of Govt of India, we can achieve seamless integration between the corporates, industry and academia to strengthen the resolve of Aatmanirbharta in Defense sector for our nation”. It is heartening that India has opened up immense opportunities for the young researchers and innovators to immerse in world class technology innovations. With our mission to achieve defense export targets spelt out by the Govt, the Universities in India can make profound contribution by channelizing inspired minds of young graduates and researchers so as to make India a defense superpower in the coming years, said Prof Sharma.
Delivering the invited distinguished address on the occasion, Rudra B. Jadeja, MD & CEO of Kalyani Rafael said, “Developed nations of the world today are showing great willingness to work with India. Make In India, Start-up India and Atmanirbhara Bharat would enable us to compete with developed countries in the field of defense technology.”
Rudra B Jadeja also urged students to opt for practical Exposure during studies and research besides having clarity of what you want to do and what you want to achieve. ‘Keep your Mind Open, Think Big and achieve great goals’ was the mantra that Shri Rudra Shared with the young inspired mind in great number present at the webinar.
In the question answer session that followed a good number of students and research scholars interacted with Mr Rudra on how the inspired minds of UG and PG could align their UG and OG projects to the need for developing defense technologies for India.
Rear Admiral Kishan Pandey AVSM, VSM, Director HR & AASC in his Opening Remarks stated that GOI has decided indigenization is the only way forward in Defense Procurement, which implies that students with MTech in Defense Technology degree will be in great demand with DRDO, DPSU and Defence Private Companies. And such professional technocrats will be professionally and personally satisfied in their future endeavors.
While delivering his lecture “Technology impact on Warfare & offerings at Amity”, Maj Gen G.S. Bal, SM, VSM (Retd), Dean Student Welfare, AUH explained the importance of technology during warfare and he also explained the Defense Technology program at AUH. Maj Gen J S Dhull (Retd), Director, Amity Institute of Defense Technology delivered vote of thanks and excellent support was given by Dr Shweta Tripathi.
