Delegation of FICO visits two factories in China

Ludhiana, April 11, 2014: A delegation of FICO on Friday under the leadership of Gurmeet Singh Kular, president, FICO visited two factories in China, according information made available here.
These factories are manufacturers of four components namely bicycle hubs, cold forged BB axle and cold forged BB cups and chain wheel cranks.
“The first factory named Yongling was worth seeing where we experienced multi manning/automation and foolproof processes”, said Kular in a communication from China, adding one worker was easily synchronising with three machines along with the placement of components in the collection bins. The movements of components were fully automised with the help of conveyors.
Very small fixtures were used having low investment for balanced production lines.
Stamping on the hub barrel were done using mechanical cams and pneumatic feeders. The fittings of the dust cap on the hub cone, steel balls in the hub cups with greasing followed by facing/turning/threading of hubs were totally automised.
The blank of the BB cups were manufactured using wire rod with blank movement and flattening on the same machine in order to group up processes. A cam operated fingers was placing the blank for flattening.
In the second factory, Shuanglong Vehicle Co Ltd the delegates witnessed the assembly line of the chain wheel which also included transportation of parts using a conveyors.
Each chain wheel was corrected with the simple alignment fixture and inspected using a dial gauge.
He added the learning from these visits were automation, line balancing, multi manning and low cost materials movement.
