Delegation of ALMTI holds meeting with DC Varinder Kumar Sharma
Discuss issue with regard to establishment of skill development centre at Ludhiana
Ludhiana: A delegation of Association of Ludhiana Machine Tool Industries, an apex body of about 400 Machine Tool manufacturing units, led by Jagtar Singh, President and Sushil Kumar, General Secretary, held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana Varinder Kumar Sharma on Thursday in his office.
The association submitted a Memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner regarding establishment of Skill Development Centre at Ludhiana for which the previous Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Aggarwal had promised to provide the land and building to the association. Jagtar Singh, President informed that a delegation of the Association had a meeting with Pradeep Aggarwal, the then Deputy Commissioner on 16.1.2020 in his office during which he offered to provide land and building to the Association, along with all the infrastructure from the Government at Ludhiana to establish Skill Development Centre where skilled manpower could be prepared for the industries. The Deputy Commissioner also told that some association could come forward to run this Skill Development Centre.
During the next meeting held on 24.1.2020 with Pradeep Aggarwal , the delegation of Association of Ludhiana Machine Tool Industries submitted a letter dated 24.01.2020 vide which the Association offered to run the Skill Development Centre In this regard the association submitted the proposal. As per the Association’s plan, the following sections will be established in the Skill Development Centre:
1. Training Institute for Machine Tool Industry.
2. Common Facility Centre.
3. Research and Development Centre for Machine Tool Industry.
4. Old Age Home for Retired Technicians only who will teach the students
and help in operating the machines installed in the Institute.
5. Laboratory.
6. Hostel Facility for 50 to 100 students with Mess. We will take care of the living and meals for the technicians as well as students living in the hostel.
Sushil Kumar, General Secretary of the Association informed that Pradeep Aggarwal had asked the delegation as to how the association would run the Institute. In this regard the Association informed that some machines will be installed in the institute for training on which we shall do the job work also of the industrial units to
generate income. There will be a machine maintenance workshop in the institute wherein repair work of the machines of machine tool units would be carried out from which Income will be generated. Sushil Kumar informed that the Institute will earn and children will learn. The General Secretary also informed that a nominal tuition fee will be fixed for the training and hostel facility which will make the institute self-sustainable.
Sushil Kumar further informed that the Association has decided to hire the services of experts in machine tool industry from SES Germany on nominal charges who will train the Trainers. He also assured that the person trained in this institute will be capable to work in any type of industry. The following types of training will be given to the students in the institute:
1. Designing/Drawing.
2. Machinist.
3. Metal Cutting.
4. Metal Forming.
5. Electricals.
6. Electronics.
7. Machine Maintenance.
8. All types of Welding.
9. Fitter.
10. Casting.
11. Pattern Making etc.
For the skill development centre triple storey building will be required for which the Association has also prepared layout plan which has been submitted to the Deputy Commissioner with a request to him to consider the proposal of the ALMTI sympathetically and do the needful at the earliest so that the Association could do something for the betterment of the industry.
The other members present were Tarlochan Singh-Finance Secretary, Kamaljit Singh, Sr.Vice President, Bhupinder Sharma, Arbinder Singh-Vice President, Parnjit Singh Mankoo and Surinder Singh-Office Secretary.
