Jalandhar, January 4, 2013: Members of District Bar Association took pot peace-march starting from Courts Complex to BMC Chowk to register protest against the Delhi rape case.
The members also stayed away from the work in response to a call given by Bharat Bandh on Thursday, to express solidarity towards the aggrieved family.
The lawyers of Jalandhar are of the view that the culprits of the Delhi gang rape be hanged till death.
The former Punjab and Haryana Bar Council chairman Navtej Singh Toor, District Bar Association president Gurnam Singh Pelia, secretary, Anuj Mehta and its former president Raj Kumar Bhalla joined the protest.
Women advocates took active part in the peaceful march, condemning the brutal act and conduct of the rapists.
The protestors were of the opinion that the provision of the capital punishment should be made for the culprits in the manner for such types of crimes.
The DBA also demanded that the government should take strong steps to check recurrence of such incidents.
