Dharamsala, December 12, 2012: Hindus have expressed sadness at the passing away of legendary musician Pandit Ravi Shankar.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement on Wednesday from Nevada (USA), said that it was a sad day for the music world and it was an end of an era in music. It was highly saddening to hear about the death of the music legend Ravi Shankar.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, urged The Recording Academy to award Ravi Shankar a Special Grammy at "The 55th Grammys" on February 10, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to grant him a Special Oscar at “The 85th Academy Awards” on February 24 and Kennedy Center Honors next year posthumously for his unparalleled contributions to world of music.

Ravi Shankar (Robindro Shaunkor Chowdhury), 92, three-time Grammy winner, reportedly died in San Diego (California, USA) on December 11 evening.
