Ludhiana, April 17, 2018: Demanding capital punishment to the perpetrators of most heinous crimes of most gruesome murders of 8 years old girl at Kathua and father of rape victim in Unnao in UP, the Punjab Istri Sabha, All India Students Federation and All India Youth Federation organised a demonstration and rally from Punjabi Bhawan to Mini Secretariat today.

Protestors said it is an irony that the Prime Minister gave a very mild statement that too after the court took cognizance of the matter. But no other minister, not even the women ministers of the union government have uttered a word on these most gruesome incidents which have drawn attention of international community including the UN.

“Worst is that even such incident is being communalized”, they said, adding the victims and their advocates are being threatened. A group of lawyers who have tried to obstruct the working of judiciary have shown total disrespect to the functioning of the judicial system in the country.

Speakers demanded that the case should be shifted from Kathua to some other state not ruled by the BJP. They also sought that case should be heard in fast track manner and license of the lawyers who tried to obstruct proceedings of the court should be cancelled and cases be registered against them. Cases of sedition should be registered against those including the ministers who took out demonstrations in favour of the accused and insulted the National Flag. They also demanded that those sending communal slogans and spreading hate campaign in the social media should be booked.

Those who addressed the rally include Avtar Kaur Advocate, Barjinder Kaur, Kulwant Kaur, Sultana Malik, Rajwinder Kaur, Gurpreet Kaur, Aiysha, Riya Sharma, Advocate Mukesh Kumar, Advocate Naseeb Chand and Advocate Amit Rai.
